    I used Photoshop and Gimp for several years. After converting to Linux, about five years ago, I went 100% Gimp. Krita, primarily because of the brushes, is fantastic and in my opinion, ranks right up with Photoshop and I have just started using it. Thank you for the introduction I will be watching for more graphics uploads.

      Hello MLTB, I agree, the Krita brushes are excellent. I actually find it much more intuitive for digital painting that I do Photoshop and I have used Photoshop for years. I hope to give Krita test run on a professional project when I have the chance.

    Can I move selections on a layer independently?

    • @portersblackboard
      @portersblackboard 6 років тому

      I'm not sure what you mean. But I will give it a shot. If you make a selection, you can move the contents of the selection by click hold and dragging the area inside the marching ants with the Move Tool. If you want to move the selection (marching ants only) without affecting the image below try going to Select, then choosing Transform Selection.

    • @welshdragon2008
      @welshdragon2008 8 років тому

      +David B ... Did you find your answer? I think its a tough market, photo restoration. Because most photo shops supply this service too aswell as online services. I too like this type of work but I feel its flooded with choices.

    • @db19812009
      @db19812009 8 років тому

      +welshdragon2008 Thank you. I'm still searching for a way that I retouch and restore for a living. Your right there are so many choices. I found a site that you can freelance on but I'm not sure it's legit yet. UPWORK is the name. Thank you for responding.

    • @portersblackboard
      @portersblackboard 8 років тому

      Hello David. I have sort of abandoned this channel but planning on getting back to it soon. Your questions caught my eye. I think Welshdragon2008 is correct. You mentioned Upwork, I have recently been getting worth there. It is legit but tough going. I have probably spent as much time bidding on projects there as I have actually working but there is work to be found if you are patient. One thing I have totally given up on is finding photo retouching work there. There is just so much competition and no one wants to pay what it is worth. But that is not to say that you would not do better if you tried. I would try hitting up some photo studios, wedding photographers or try to get an internship at a studio if you can afford to.

    Thanks for creating this useful tutorial. It answered my questions pretty well. A couple of minor suggestions: 1) I think you could have communicated the necessary info in about 5 min., 2) Try to keep your mouse from darting all over the page. Don't move the mouse till it's necessary. Brevity and focus will make your tutorials even better. Thanks again for taking the time.
